ראסל מורטון הבין לפני שנים כי יצירת שינוי באמצעות האמנות אפשרית.
הוא אימץ דרך זו, בין היתר, על מנת להביע את מחאתו נגד זיהום מקורות המים בטבע בכלל, ובשמורת חיות הבר הלאומית בצפון מזרח אלסקה, בפרט.

The four seasons of water
תמונת קיר ענקית (5 רגל גובה ו-15 רגל אורך), מורכבת מארבעה חלקים שמתארים את ארבע עונות השנה. בסיס התמונה מקנבס והציורים מחרוזים.

בסיומה, התמונה תכיל למעלה מ-3 מיליון חרוזים ו-15,000 יארד חוטים.
הפרוייקט כולו במימון עצמי
המטרה העיקרית של העבודה היא להעלות את המודעות של האדם לצורך החיוני במים נקיים בכדור הארץ.
פניתי אל ראסל לבקש אישור להשתמש בתמונות מהבלוג שלו ולהבהיר נקודה שלא היתה ברורה לי. הוא השיב לי מאי שם:

I do not have a clear memory if I have carefully explained the nature of Four Seasons of Water. I often speak of that process at public showings, so I know I have talked about it. So let me know if there are spaces in the process that seem a bit unexplained.
The stitching of Four Seasons of Water was started on January 23, 2006 (1 + 2 + 3 = 6) at 8 p.m. ( so I could have an astrological reading done on it). The day was accidental - though I always consider the grouping of 123 or 312 or 321 to be good fortune. The project idea started many years back at a Thanksgiving dinner with my step son and his computer friends.
Do not be shy to ask further questions as it is easy to be blind to what we know well.
